Construction of home for the homeless
Hundreds of thousands of people in India live in small huts in slums under very poor living conditions. The huts are made of straw, coconut leaves, etc. Even many other thousands of families live without a roof over their head. The organization finds it a moral responsibility to help such families by providing financial aid so that such families with elderly people as well as children have a roof over their head where they live in securely without any fear of heavy rain during monsoon and severe heat during summer seasons.
In cooperation with the local Catholic diocese in Idukki, we are constantly building new accommodations for the homeless. The houses were partially financed, 1/4 of the costs were borne by Light in Life. The remaining ¾ are divided by the Idukki Diocese, the national cadet corps and the families themselves.
The cost per accommodation is CHF 10’000.-
“Light in Life” per accommodation amounts to CHF 2’500.-
